  • Identify and understand various project-specific sustainability challenges, including assessing project carbon footprints, managing environmental risks (e.g., adverse weather), and recognizing the interconnectedness of ESG factors with project decisions.

  • Acquire strategies and practical steps to reduce environmental impact, promote social well-being, and enhance governance within projects.

  • Make decisions when selecting project materials, technologies, and methods, considering factors such as sustainability, environmental impact, and ethical considerations (e.g., green materials, energy saving, personnel protection).

  • Create personalized action plans for integrating sustainable decision-making into their project management practices.

Session 1: Introduction to Sustainable Decision-Making in Projects

  • Sustainability 101 for Projects: What is it? Why does it matter in project management?

  • Overview of sustainability and its importance in project decision-making processes.

  • The role of project decision-making in creating sustainable outcomes.

  • Key principles and frameworks for sustainable project decision-making.


Session 2: Identifying Project Sustainability Challenges & Materiality

  • Identifying and understanding project-specific sustainability challenges and their carbon footprints (e.g., logistics, construction processes, supply chain emissions).

  • Analyzing the interconnectedness of ESG factors (Environmental: adverse weather resilience, resource depletion; Social: labor issues, community impact, personnel protection; Governance: ethical sourcing, compliance) and project decisions.

  • Case studies and group discussions on real-world project sustainability challenges (e.g., major infrastructure projects, product development projects, IT projects).


Session 3: Tools for Sustainable Project Decision-Making

  • Introduction to decision-making tools and techniques applicable to project sustainability.

  • Sustainable Design Principles for Project Planning and Execution.

  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and its role in evaluating environmental impacts of project materials and processes.

  • Risk assessment frameworks incorporating climate resilience and social impact for projects.


Session 4: Applying Sustainable Decision-Making in Projects

  • How to integrate green materials and energy-saving practices into project design and execution.

  • How to make better choices when procuring project resources and services, considering sustainability and ethical sourcing.

  • Strategies for achieving carbon neutrality and reducing waste in projects.

  • Ensuring personnel protection, health, and safety beyond compliance in project environments.


Session 5: Environmental & Social Leadership in Projects

  • Developing an action plan for integrating sustainable decision-making into personal project management practices.
