PPMA Event Insight — Leadership in Action at the Qianhai International Corporation Platform
The Professional Project Management Association (PPMA) successfully conducted the Leadership in Project Management session on 5 May 2026 at the Shenzhen Qianhai International Cooperation Center. The event brought together distinguished speakers, partners, and participants from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and across the Greater Bay Area during the Labor Day long holiday. PPMA extends its sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the success of this professional exchange.

Programme Highlights
Pro. Gareth Wooler, ChPP, CEng
Presented entirely in Mandarin, demonstrating cultural respect and professional engagement. He outlined the organisational progression from functional structures to project‑based teams and shared the achievement of his professionals attaining Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status. His reflections on “projectification” as a governance mechanism—referencing Qianhai and the 15th Five‑Year Plan—provided strategic insight relevant to regional development.

Ms Heather Chan (陈凯励)
Delivered an encouraging message on women’s leadership, emphasising that leadership is a lived identity rather than a formal title. Her personal sharing during the Q&A session added depth and authenticity, inspiring emerging leaders to speak up and stand firm in their roles.

Mr CY Chan (陈靖宇), CQO, FHKQMA
Provided a clear and structured explanation of the critical role of the Chief Quality Officer (CQO), particularly for corporations with global aspirations. He underscored that sustainable trust is built upon systemic quality and disciplined governance rather than shortcuts.

Ms Helen Deng — Taiseitide Technology Development (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
Acknowledged for supporting PPMA as a partner for ICPPM2026, reinforcing the importance of safety, technology excellence, and cross‑regional collaboration within the professional community.

Gold Peak Technology Group Limited
Recognised for their continued support to PPMA across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Forum Discussion on Leadership in Action
The forum session generated a high level of engagement, particularly on the theme of leadership in action. Participants exchanged perspectives on how leadership behaviours shape organisational culture, project delivery, and professional identity. The discussion on women’s leadership was especially constructive, with contributors emphasising the importance of representation, confidence, and advocacy in advancing inclusive leadership across sectors. The dialogue reflected a shared commitment to strengthening leadership capability within the Greater Bay Area’s evolving professional landscape.

Acknowledgement to Participating Organizations
PPMA expresses appreciation to the participating corporations from Shenzhen and Guangzhou whose engagement enriched the dialogue. Gratitude is also extended to the Qianhai International Corporation collaboration platform for providing an enabling environment for cross‑regional professional exchange and cooperation.

Closing Remarks
To all participants who travelled from Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area during the Labor Day long holiday, PPMA acknowledges your dedication to professional development. The event reaffirmed a core principle: leadership is not a title — it is a commitment to elevate others.
