PPMA Official Inauguration – A Historic Milestone

The Professional Project Management Association (“PPMA”) celebrated its official opening on 13.3.2026 in a grand ceremony held at HKMA in South Seas Centre, Tsimshatsui, where we received more than 80 guests, officiating partners and Founding Members. It was an immense pride to meet amongst our prominent guests Dr. Jason Chan, MH, JP, Principal of SPEED of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Albert Chan, MH, Distinguished Research Professor for BRE of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Prof Koh, Tas Yong, Associate Head (Teaching) and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Real Estate and Construction of HKU. The entire proceedings of this historic event were live-stream to global audience of new members in UK, Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Tai Wan, Macau and GBA area.

At a welcome reception, guests were warmly invited to sign on the commemorative signature board, mingle for networking and have photographs captured to mark the memorable moment. The reception indeed glistened with joys of blessings upon a big toast proposed by the President with all present.

The ceremony commenced with Opening Remarks by Ir Dr. Jason Kong, the President of PPMA, who inspired audience with a presentation on PPMA’s vision, mission and invited all professionals, practitioners, and partners to join us in the above mission towards materializing our commitment. This was followed by an informative overview by Ms. Ping Choy, Board Liaison Officer, on PPMA’s academic aspects including qualifications framework and pathways for professional recognition and development.
A highlight of the ceremony was the formal appointment of Professor Adam Boddison OBE, Chief Executive Officer of APM, as PPMA’s Honorary Advisor. In a pre-recorded video message played to the audience, Professor Boddison conveyed his congratulations on PPMA’s monumental development and reaffirmed his unwavering support. We are truly indebted to Professor Boddison for his wise and unrelenting counsel so instrumental to our successful establishment amid endless obstacles.
Max Lau the Vice-President then announced the Board of Directors’ resolution to approve the nomination of Ir Professor HO Wing Ip for conferment of an Honorary Fellowship. A Certificate of Appointment was presented to Ir Professor Ho as PPMA’s very first Honorary Fellow, who in response delivered a heartfelt speech of acceptance and renewed commitments.

In a solemn proceeding that followed, the Association conferred a Fellowship upon Ar. Dr. Wilson Lam as our very first FPPMA, who subsequently addressed the audience with a speech expressing his gratitude and sharing vision about project management. The very first conferment of Registered Professional Project Director (RPPD) qualification under PPMA’s Chartered Project Professional Registration Scheme was then presented to Pro. Gareth Hunter Wooler, whose touching pre-recorded video message of thanks was warmly received by all.


Taking this golden opportunity, the President presented signed Memorandum of Understanding to representative of Ms. YANG Shan (Qianhai International Cooperation Center), representative of Mr. Albert Leung (eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre Limited), Mr. CY Chan (Guangdong Dongguan Quality Supervision Testing Centre) and Mr. Peter. Chan (Guangdong Quality Development Association), to mark the significance of our seamless and priceless cooperation with these close partners.




The ceremony continued with the President presenting Certificates of Appointment to members newly appointed to the inaugural Executive Committee and then Certificates of Founding to 100 Founding Members in attendance and livestream, commemorating their enduring role in the establishment of PPMA and commitments to steering the new Association.

In a remark to close the formal proceedings, the Vice-President expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, officiating partners, and members, appealing to all for active participation in PPMA’s activities to shape its promising future.

PPMA extends its deepest gratitude to all who attended, supported, and contributed to this momentous occasion—in person and from around the world. This inauguration marks not an end, but a beginning. Together, we build the future of the project management profession.
