PPMA values its ongoing collaboration with IPPP, a Supporting Organisation of ICPPM2026, in promoting professional excellence and knowledge exchange within the project management profession.

The Professional Project Management Association (PPMA) was honoured to serve as a Supporting Organisation for a recent seminar organised by the International Public Private Partnership Professionals (IPPP), bringing together industry leaders, infrastructure experts, project practitioners, and policymakers to explore the latest developments and opportunities in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.

At the invitation of Ir Francis Sootoo, Chairman of IPPP and a Founding Member of PPMA, PPMA representatives Ms Ping Choy, ChPP, Board Liaison, and Mr Chan Ching Yu, CQO, Executive Committee Member, attended the seminar on behalf of the Association. In recognition of PPMA's support and contribution to advancing professional project management excellence, the Association was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation during the event.

The seminar featured insightful presentations on the current status of PPP development in Hong Kong, together with analyses of international practices and lessons learned from successful PPP projects. Speakers shared practical experiences and explored the opportunities, challenges, governance considerations, and stakeholder engagement strategies associated with PPP implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

A key message from the seminar was that PPP is much more than a financing or procurement approach. Rather, it is a collaborative framework that aligns public and private sector capabilities to create sustainable value, enhance service delivery, optimise risk allocation, and deliver long-term benefits to society.

Mr. ZHANG Liao, Leo, the speaker, remarked:

"Successful PPP projects require a shared vision, clear governance structures, transparent stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to long-term outcomes. The integration of public objectives with private-sector innovation remains a critical success factor."

The seminar also examined Hong Kong's current PPP environment and highlighted opportunities for future development in infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, urban development, and other public services.

For PPMA representatives, the seminar provided a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insights into PPP projects from multiple perspectives and across different stages of the project lifecycle, including project conception, feasibility assessment, financing, procurement, delivery, operation, and asset management.

Ms. Ping Choy, PPMA Board Liaison, noted:

"As project professionals, it is essential that we continuously expand our understanding beyond traditional project delivery approaches. The seminar enabled us to explore how PPP principles can support sustainable value creation and effective stakeholder collaboration throughout the entire project lifecycle."

PPMA was also delighted to reconnect with the IPPP leadership team, particularly the IPPP Vice Chairman, who will be joining the International Conference on Project Management (ICPPM2026) cum 2nd ASMS ESG Award 2026 on 25 November 2026 as a distinguished forum speaker.

The continuing collaboration between PPMA and IPPP reflects a shared commitment to advancing professional standards, promoting best practices, and strengthening professional networks across Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and the international project management community.

PPMA extends its sincere appreciation to Chairman Ir Francis Sootoo and the entire IPPP team for their warm invitation and hospitality. The Association looks forward to deepening its partnership with IPPP and welcoming its representatives to ICPPM2026 in November, where thought leaders from government, academia, professional institutions, and industry will come together to discuss the future of project management, sustainability, and ESG excellence.
